23 - 29 June 2025 - Broad Chalke, Salisbury
Ailsa Dixon is a traditional folksinger, storyteller and musician hailing from Aberdeenshire, the ballad heartland of Scotland. Specialising in sharing forgotten folktales and unheard histories, she explores the queer, feminist and environmental elements of the folklore she grew up with. A Scottish Ethnology graduate from the University of Edinburgh, Ailsa combines her academic ethnographic and folkloristic expertise with her performance practice, bringing traditional Scots tunes, songs and stories, and the history and folklore behind them, to new audiences. Her recent work includes collaborative storytelling shows Land Under Wave, and Hear Us and Hasten, which both toured the UK, and she is set to perform her solo show Cassandra at the Edinburgh Fringe.
