There’s so much going on at the Chalke History Festival, it can be easy to miss all the things included as part of your entry ticket.

Talks

Living History

All our living historians are happy to share their extraordinary knowledge as you walk around the living history encampments, alongside scheduled talks and lively displays. Sample the sights, sounds and smells of the past from the Iron Age, to the Tudors and beyond the Second World War. See the bottom half of the full programme, in blue, for details here.

Children’s Activities

All activities in the Storystock Children’s Tent of Surpirises are included in your entry ticket. Together with our living historians, performers, live music and talks specially tailored for children, there is a packed programme to keep your little historians entertained! Performance & Live Music

Discover a packed programme of entertainment and hands-on activities for all the family. From storytelling to puppetry and duels, this is history at its
most engaging and entertaining. Enjoy folk, wartime and 70s live music as you explore the site and relax at the bar. See the bottom half of the full programme, in blue, for details here.

Festival Site

Enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the Chalke Valley as you walk around the festival site. You are welcome to enjoy your picnics on benches, but please don’t bring your own alcohol.

Exciting Experiences

Experience firsthand the sights, sounds, and sensations of different historical eras with our experiences. Whether it’s exploring a World War Two trench or being transported to the Victorian ‘Wild West,’ there’s something for every adventurous spirit. And don’t miss our historic fairground!

Dining

Join us Monday – Saturday in the Trethowans Dining Tent for delicious lunches and suppers provided by Provenance: Field to Fork Food. On Sunday sit down for an Historic Banquet, as food historian Dr Annie Gray and Alex Compiani of the Time Travellers Kitchen take you on a culinary journey through time.

Food, Drink and Retail

From fine dining to cafés, to bars and street food – there is something for everyone. You can also indulge in retail therapy, with a selection of outlets including books, art, jewellery, vintage clothing and more!
