“Where the economy is today, is shaped by not just the last 5 years, not just the last 10, but 250 years of previous development have put us where we are.” Economist, journalist and author, Duncan Weldon chats to CVHF volunteer, Will Bradley about how there’s too much tendency by many economists and political scientists to ignore history.
Duncan spoke at Chalke Valley History Festival on 27th June about the ‘Surprising story of the British economy’, looking at the economy’s interwoven relationship with politics over time to explain why politicians have so often been shaped by the economy rather than the other way around.
