Toby Capwell
Dr. Toby Capwell FSA is an independent scholar, curator and historian of European arms and armour. He was curator at Glasgow Museums (2003-6) and the Wallace Collection (2006-22), and continues to work with the world’s great museums, including the Imperial Armoury in Vienna, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Victoria and Albert Museum. His books include the three-volume Armour of the English Knight (2015-22); Henry Moore: The Helmet Heads (2018); and Masterpieces of European Arms and Armour at the Wallace Collection (2011). His new book, Armour of the English Knight: An Armourers’ Album will be published in the autumn.
