67. The Inaugural Tom Stoppard Conversation
Guildhall

Each year at Chalke, we cherished the presence of our friend, the celebrated playwright Tom Stoppard, and his wife Sabrina Guinness. An ardent supporter of the festival, Tom’s connection to Chalke was both personal and enduring. Following his death last year, with the support of Sabrina, we are proud to honour his legacy with a new annual Conversation celebrating the history of theatre. In this inaugural event, BAFTA-winning playwright Sir David Hare will reflect on Stoppard’s remarkable life and work and will share insights from a fifty-year friendship with his ‘confrère’. An intimate and illuminating tribute to one of the great voices of modern theatre.
