108. Overlooked Histories: Disability in Antiquity
Henge

While we think of the concept of Disability as being a fairly modern idea, the lived experience of many conditions we recognise today stretches far back into antiquity. Traditional histories have long imagined the past as inhospitable to anyone not at peak fitness or ability, but recent studies in archaeology are beginning to unravel this narrative. Join disabled archaeologist Kyle Lewis Jordan as he and Steph Black discuss a selection of stories from Kyle’s research, illustrating why incorporating disability into new narratives not only enriches our understanding of past peoples, but provides a critical point of reflection to also think about our present.
