Gillian Moore and Michael Wood are co-presenters of the opening 8 episodes of BBC Radio 3’s mammoth, year long series Key Changes which ranges over 1000 years of classical music. In this talk, they will show how the sweep of history directly affected the actual sound of music. Covering a period from the 11th to the Renaissance, Gillian and Michael will take in the invention of musical notation and the printing press and will ask how the Battle of Agincourt or Luther’s Reformation or the vast spaces of the brand new Notre Dame Cathedral affected music. Expect lively discussion – and lots of music.
