Martin Dwyer

Martin Dwyer is a retired former leading jockey who was a regular rider at Salisbury, riding many winners at the course. This included success on a 2 year old horse called Sir Percy in June 2005. A year later the two were successful in England’s most prestigious horse race, the Derby at Epsom. The finish to that Derby was a blanket finish with inches separating the first 4 horses. Martin’s win on Sir Percy in the 2006 Derby was judged to be ‘Flat Racing Ride of the Year’ by the racing industry. Martin’s other ‘classic race’ success came in the 2003 Oaks (also at Epsom) on Casual Look, and he was also the regular rider of Group 1 winning Pyledriver, a horse which made his debut at Salisbury in July 2019. An injury forced Martin to retire in July 2023 and he is now a presenter and racing pundit on Racing TV.
