Gwen Burns studied costume design and worked as a prior to focussing on book illustration full time. Her wider interests in historic costume, English folk tradition and social history suffuse her work, along with her affection for people and delight in the macabre. Gwen lives in Somerset and spends her free time at pub folk sessions and Morris dancing.
