94. Great Buildings of the World Through the Hands and Eyes of A Stone Mason
Henge

What stories are hidden within the stones of the world’s greatest monuments? From vast temples to towering cathedrals, stone has long been the material chosen when civilisations want to create something truly lasting. Join master stonemason Simon Warrack in conversation with Chalke’s resident stonemason Andrew Ziminski for a fascinating exploration of the craft, skill and philosophy behind the world’s most extraordinary stone buildings. Drawing on decades of experience working across more than thirty countries and with monuments from many cultures and faiths, Simon will share remarkable stories from some of the most iconic sites on Earth. Together they will delve into the artistry of stonemasonry, the challenges of preserving historic monuments, and the delicate balance between restoration and respecting the spirit of the original builders. Expect insight, humour and a deep appreciation for the enduring power of stone.
